Ihre Aufgaben

The Project Improvement Manager initiates and implements continuous improvement (projects) throughout SCS HS2 considering the supply chain and looking at safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost and efficiency and deliver significant quantifiable benefits across the scope of the project. 

Main objective is to support and inspire others to participate in the ongoing improvement process – to streamline workflows/procedures, improve productivity and identify (and reduce) issues at an early stage (identify and mitigate program delivery risks). 
Reporting to the Head of Business Improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously exchange and confer with the Project Director, Senior Leadership team (both function and area leads) to implement continuous improvement (Lean) projects currently, in the transition phase and stage 2
  • Deploy Lean training (e.g. awareness training, leadership training) across the project at all levels both to encourage people to see/share ideas and to enable people using LEAN methods (Kanban, 5S, Visual Management) in construction processes (in preparation for stage 2)
  • Workshop coordination and facilitation (regarding improvement projects, collaboration etc.) and also identify/empower construction teams to “independent application/facilitation” in regard to stage 2
  • Identifying areas for improvement and encourage people involved to improve/develop their procedures e.g. by mapping the end-to-end business processes, take ideas from concept to reality
  • Facilitate and lead on Collaborative Planning across the project teams
  • Lead the Performance Improvement Team (PIT) – a group of Lean champions from across the project team
  • Recognise and encourage people who want to make a difference – to do better on a daily basis and coordinate regular networking opportunities (e.g. PIT meetings)
  • Collect and share SCS ideas, examples of good / best practice, lessons learnt and knowledge summaries with SCS, parent companies, HS2
  • Connect idea owners to subject matter experts  breaking silos
  • Update clients’ documents (if and when required)
  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

Ihre Voraussetzungen

  • Required qualifications,  skills, behaviours and attributes
  • Degree or Appropriate Qualification
  • Analytical thinking as well as structured and independent way of working
  • Solid understanding and strong interest of Lean methodology, tools and deployment, especially within an asset build and management context (FLITe, Lean Practitioner, Six Sigma)
  • Experience of working within construction project environments and across all stages of a project lifecycle
  • Application of Lean to infrastructure planning and construction processes
  • Good communication skills and competent in facilitation/presentation
  • A strong work ethic, team focused and an enthusiasm to learn and develop
